Sri Lanka has been famous for its white sandy beaches, the gentle surf & sunbathing for centuries now. There are so many perfect beaches around the small island that you can literally have a beach for yourself. Surfing has been an activity that is gathering interest for a couple of decades here in Sri Lanka. Since the Eastern coast has opened up to tourism recently this is even more apparent and places such as Arugam Bay give a lot more options for experienced surfers! Because of the different levels of surf at different points in the country, Sri Lanka is a great place to learn surfing and improve your skills. If you are interested then this tour package is for you!
When you arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake a representative of our tour service will meet you. You will then be taken to your hotel in Weligama where you can get some rest for a while.
Surf Training Phase 1 Day 1 - Today will be the first day of your surf training. You will be training at a licensed Surfing training school under experienced instructors. The first phase of your training will go on for the next four days as well; in-between you will be able to travel to either Mirissa or Galle in order to enjoy the attraction that they host.
Mirissa, is a small fishing town on the Southern coast. It has some amazing beaches to excite the sea, sand & surf lover. Nowadays Mirissa is more famous for whale-watching and dolphin watching. The sea outside the Mirissa is home to the world’s only resident whale and dolphin groups in the world and we will be going out on a boat ride to visit them.
The City of Galle is the crowning jewel of Sri Lanka’s South coast and at the center of it is the Dutch Fort built during the 16th century. The entirety of the city inside the fort is like another world, with old colonial architecture dotting the land. There are plenty of landmarks to visit including the National Maritime Museum, The Dutch Hospital and the Galle Light house.
(We will be arranging sessions with an experienced surfing instructor for 2-3 hours per day. Advancing your surfing skills will depend on you following instructions and practicing by yourself at leisure.)
