If you are a fan of exotic cultures and love to travel in countries and places that look like they are from a whole other world, then Sri Lanka would be the next place you should visit. With a written history going back over 2000 years and being influenced by its neighbors through all that time and being influenced by the colonial invaders such as the Dutch, Portuguese and the British in the later centuries, Sri Lanka is a cultural melting pot. Our Tour of Sri Lanka will take you from the ruins of Anuradhapura, the capital of the first kingdom of Sri Lanka to Colombo, the current capital which is a cosmopolitan city dotted with skyscrapers and great landmarks. We will also take you through the natural marvels that Sri Lanka has to offer as well like the hill country and amazing sandy beaches.
When you arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake a representative of our tour service will meet you. You will then be taken to your hotel in Negombo where you can get some rest for a while. You can spend the entire day there if you wish taking in the amazing beaches that Negombo has to offer.
We will Travel to Anuradhapura early the next day to explore it’s amazing ancient ruins. The city of Anuradhapura was Sri Lanka’s first capital millennia ago. In the afternoon & evening we will explore the city and traverse awe-inspiring landmarks like the great Stupas and the Sri Mama Bodhi. At the end of the day we will head back to our hotel.
Today you have a choice. You can either go to visit some of the lesser known landmarks around Anuradhapura such as the Isurumuni temple and the Ranmasu Uyana & you can visit some of the amazing museums of the area as well or you can relax at your hotel and take a small break.
On our fourth day in this beautiful country be ready to flex your muscles and climb the challenging world-famous rock fortress of Sigiriya. We will head to Sigiriya town early in the morning. This is a journey that will surely test your cardio and fitness but the view from the top of the fortress is breathtaking. The ancient architecture is sure to blow you away as well. After a tiring day we will go to our hotel where you have the option of getting some relaxing herbal spa treatments.
In the morning we will travel to another ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka’s second kingdom and hosts a whole range of ancient palace ruins and landmarks. In the afternoon you have the option of getting the Sigiriya Village Experience Tour where you can get a real taste of what authentic Sri Lanka Village life feels like.
We will leave the hotel early and travel to the city of Kandy and on the way there we will visit the ancient cave temple complex of Dambulla. Kandy was the capital of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. Nestled in the hill country it is the home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha. We will visit the Temple in the evening and later in the day we will visit the other landmarks to be seen within the city of Kandy. We will visit the Kandy cultural show in the night and then head over to our hotel for the night.
Today you can go to visit some of the lesser known landmarks around Kandy such as the Royal Botanical Garden and the Kandy Garrison Cemetery. You can visit some of the amazing museums of the area as well. In the afternoon we will travel to the town of Nuwara Eliya. On the way we will be able to see some tea factory surrounded by their plantations & able to see some amazing waterfalls as well.
In the morning we will depart the town of Nuwara Eliya and travel to the amazing natural landmark that is the Horton Plains. The hike through the Horton Plains is amazing and the final landmark of World’s End is sure to take you breath away. After a tiring day we will head back to spend the night in the beautiful & cool Nuwara Eliya town.
On the 9th day of our tour we will leave Nuwara Eliya to visit the beautiful region of Ella. Ella is a huge tourist hotspot these days and the region consists of the famous nine-arch railway bridge, and Little Adam’s Peak and the breathtaking view off the Ella Gap. You have the option grabbing the train from Nanu Oya station and travelling to Ella and take in the scenic route. We will stay overnight at Ella, falling asleep looking at beautiful views.
Depending on your travel choice yesterday you can either spend the day exploring the sights and landmarks of Ella such as the scenic Ella rock, and you can travel to the Udawalawe National park in the afternoon. The Udawalawa National park is home to a large number of elephants and birds so a wildlife safari through this park will be a treat. Afterwards we will stay over at the hotel near the park for the night.
On day 11 we will travel to the coastal town of Weligama where you will be able to experience some of the best beaches and surf that Sri Lanka has to offer. Depending on what your schedule was over the past couple of day you can visit the Udawalawa National park for a safari in the morning on your way to Weligama.
We will head out into Galle at earliest possible. The City of Galle is the crowning jewel of Sri Lanka’s South coast and at the center of it is the Dutch Fort built during the 16th century. The entirety of the city inside the fort is like another world, with old colonial architecture dotting the land. There are plenty of landmarks to visit including the National Maritime Museum, The Dutch Hospital and the Galle Light house. After a tiring day of exploring we will head back to our hotel.
Today you will have a choice to either spend another day in Galle or to travel to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Colombo is a bustling city housed on the Western coast of the country. It is an ancient city filled with colonial history. It may be a city with giant skyscrapers but you can find plenty of historical landmarks pockmarked amongst them. You can visit those landmarks during the day time and at the night time enjoy the shopping and nightlife that Colombo has to offer before coming back to your hotel.
Today you can go to visit some of the lesser known landmarks around Colombo. You can visit some of the amazing museums of the area as well or you can do some more shopping.
Every great journey has to end and this will be the end of your magical tour of Sri Lanka. Our representative will dive you to the Katunayaka airport where you can depart with the great memories and beautiful souvenirs that Sri Lanka had to offer, thinking of when you can return to this amazing country.
